My mormon.org page
Jim is using mormon.org as part of his missionary assignment right now, so I just checked in on my page. Putting it here for the record.
Hi I'm Amy DeMordaunt
About Me
I came from a wonderful Mormon family, the oldest of 7 children. I grew up in Sugar City, Idaho, an idyllic small farming town. I was an all-around high school athlete and ran track in college. In 1987, while at Ricks College, I won the 400m hurdle race at the NJCAA national track meet in Texas and set a new meet record. My track and field days are behind me, but I love the outdoors and staying active.
Now I am happily married to the greatest guy- Wade! He was in the U.S. Air Force for 9 years. Being a military family helped us to appreciate different people, places and food, and gave our 4 amazing kids the chance to develop the ability to adapt to huge change on a regular basis.
I have been a registered nurse for over 20 years. A few years ago I took my turn at being a patient, was hospitalized, and am still recovering. I had Guillain Barre Syndrome, but am even still improving in my daily function and energy. It was a good perspective check to be on the patient side of things.
My favorite hobbies are reading, hiking, biking and blogging. I love to read youth fiction. Ah, the innocence and the adventure! I blog to journal my life and my family's happenings. This was especially nice when my husband was overseas and he could keep up with the latest photos and events at home. It also keeps us in touch with family and friends far away. Now we are out of the Air Force. We are settling in Arizona--where we found work. It's not easy, but life is good. I love being a Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon
Family
I love my family and believe that we can and will be together forever. The gospel of Jesus Christ gives me hope in things beyond this life. My husband and I strive together to build a strong marriage and family, even when half a world apart.
Faith
I have faith that God lives, loves me and you, and that there is meaning in everything. Each of our lives matter to God, and I believe he watches over even the smallest details of our lives. I love my parents, in-laws and all my extended family so much, and pray for their happiness and success.
Obedience
I feel that through obeying the commandments, my life and my family are blessed. By serving and helping others as the Lord directs, I feel His love in my heart. There is nothing wrong with working towards perfection. I have a long way to go, but I feel it is what my Savior would want me to do.
Hope
I have hope that through the suffering of my Savior and through the gift and grace of the Atonement that the heartaches and sorrows, even the troubles and the weaknesses in my life can be taken away.
Testimony
I feel that the Lord hears our prayers and answers in His time. I know Joseph Smith restored the gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth. I know the Book of Mormon is true. I pray for strength to live a life of goodness and to be a blessing to my family. Having the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life gives me and my family stability that we really need. I love the Lord!

What is hope and what do you hope for?
Hope is a belief that things are good, will be better, and that hard things can be overcome.
I hope for togetherness for me and my family.
I hope for joy and light in my life.
I hope for friends and the chance to see them after we move again!.
I hope for a cure for cancer, diabetes and Parkinson's disease.
I hope for love to prevail when selfishness is present.
I hope for my children to have beautiful lives and that when they do have trials, that they will learn and grow and become better people.
I hope we never have to "fix up" a house again!
I hope for all people to have meaning and purpose in their lives, and goodness and...hope.

How I live my faith
One assignment I always have is to go with a partner to visit with women in our congregation and have a gospel discussion once a month (visiting teaching). I love the women at different ages and stages of life that I have come to know and love in the past 25 years of being a woman in the church. We share messages of love and hope. It is a wonderful thing to have another sister to get to know and lovely women to visit with.
One time I was assigned to visit a gal who was active duty Air Force, and from the address I was given, could just not find her on the base. So I wrote to her--several times before hearing any reply. Her letter came from Iraq and I learned that the address was her mailing address while she was deployed. She was so grateful for contact from the church while she was so far away, and I am so glad that I finally tried sending a letter to that un-findable address!
It is also nice to have the local Mormon missionaries over to eat and occasionally go to lessons or visits with them. They often encourage our family to have missionary moments and goals. Right now our oldest son is serving a mission. We are so happy for him to have the chance to share the gospel as a full time missionary, fulfilling a dream. I try to be an example of happiness, helpfulness, generosity and enthusiasm at work, at home, volunteering at school, or wherever I interact with others. I am proud to be a Mormon.

Jim's Mission Call
When the day finally came for Jim's mission call, we were able to watch him open it on Skype. He called at the appointed time and we just had to wait for 15 minutes or so for Wade to get home from work. He really has a long commute.
There were some nice members with a slow internet connection willing to have 4 elders in their home while Jim opened then read his call (back) to the Utah Salt Lake City West mission. He was so glad for the real mission call, and is happy to be going back to the mission that gave him the opportunity for the short term mission assignment, though he would have been excited for anywhere, he said. He also would be glad to learn Spanish, but is also happy to teach the gospel in English.
His report to the MTC date is November 14. He will be home on October 30 (in time for Halloween?!), go through the temple to receive his endowments on November 10, then back to Utah on a plane with mom on November 11, 2012. Everything with his mission happens FAST! Family and friends have all been so supportive during this year as his call was delayed, then the short-term mission came and now the real mission call.
Jim's attitude has been so positive about serving a mission and he continues to be enthusiastic about learning and sharing the gospel. This is an amazing stage of his life and has required some careful planning to have everything needed in place. We love watching Jim's progress in life. He has made some great choices. He continues to surprise and impress us :)
