For Grandpa

It's been too long again and there is so much to catch up on and try to remember about the past couple of months! Lots of reasons...mostly sleeping and working! The cell phone photos are an extra bluetooth step to load onto the computer. One day I guess I will blog from a data phone! But not yet. I think this post will be dated in March, just to keep it in context...but I'm actually finishing it up in April.

To encourage Grandpa Price in his recovery from open heart surgery, Heather made the fun poster below with Good Job (thumbs up!) from the grandkids (our kids' contribution above...note Owen's bling!). And actually everything below (poster, flowers, awesome "heart attack" and 'We can do hard things' sign) was lovingly done by Heather and her family to invite a happy atmosphere for Dad's recuperation in the hospital and at home.

So what happened was that my Dad needed open heart surgery (March 12th). Daniel, Heather, and Mary were able to be with my parents that day lending them love and support. We prayed from afar and Jim went to visit Grandma Beck at lunchtime after his doctor's appointment that day--she was so surprised! Then Dad was in the hospital and it was so hard and recovery was slow, but good. Then it was my weekend off of work, so I suddenly got a medical fare flight up to Salt Lake City (March 18,19, & 20th) and spent three days with my parents, first at the hospital (Jim bussed up to be with us, too), then my dad went home and I got to help him settle in. Mom is the BEST caregiver in the universe. He is in excellent hands. What a blessing to have this surgery to bring new vigor and health to my dad! We are so glad that all went well. He had a fantastic surgeon, Dr. Doty. Dr. Caine and Lori Decker, PA, also saw Dad in the hospital and contributed to his excellent care. Thankfully he is doing well and making progress at home recovering.

Then I had to say good-bye. Heather and all the kids gave me a ride to the airport (no easy task, for sure!!!). I am always happy to see them. We quickly attempted photos, but then really had to get going. Can't wait to see you all again soon (I hope!).

Sweet new little niece

Born to my youngest sister (Jane) on March 6, 2012 is the lastest little cousin, sweet baby Amelia Jane Johnson. We are so happy for Jane, Seth and Ryan to have her in their family. Welcome to the world and to a wonderful family, little one!

High School Swim Begins!

Just another season within a season!
First high school meet. A little dual meet. Trevor smoked every race. Fun for him, and fun for the fam.

Then a couple of weeks later, at a huge 2-day meet, Trevor was really sick with a fever, cough and sore throat the day before, so he just swam one 50yd. butterfly for the medley relay. He did great and was pleased, as was his team. Then he came home and slept the rest of the day. Oh, and it was raining all morning, too! Look how he tried to stay warm before swimming (yep, that's him crouched under his towel).

Way to go, Trev!
