Utah-Idaho interview turned summer vacation!

The last week of school Wade had yet another lead for a job in Utah. He whisked Mae and Owen away from the last day of school, put Jim behind the wheel, and they went up for an interview. The job (of course) came to nothing, but what a great time was had! It totally turned into a great summer vacation (minus Trevor the scholar/swimmer, and Mom the RN). The kids spent some time at Grandpa and Grandma Price's during the interview. Mae had some dream come true time at the minky store. All went hiking and had fun visiting with Paul and Maddie. Jim took care of some unfinished business at BYU (whatever that means?!). Grandpa and Grandma DeMordaunt escorted everyone up to Yellowstone National Park using their Golden Age Pass (way to go, Grandpa!) and another memorable play was enjoyed at the Playmill Theater in West Yellowstone. And so nice that Wade was able to spend Father's Day with his dad in Idaho (grilling some great steak for dinner!). Mae's only regret was not making it to Porter's, but how much can half a family do in a few days?! It was a great trip and worth it all the way (even though it is painfully obvious that we do not get to relocate closer to family in the Intermountain West, sigh).

Lifeguarding begins

Jim's first job began Memorial Day weekend. He faithfully manned the pool area, laughed at the ducks who dropped by, and kept his jacket on, as it was fairly cool weather.

There are 3 pools in The Crossings neighborhood where we live. Trevor just started last weekend and they will each work 2 or 3 times a week lifeguarding either at the big main pool, or at either of the 2 smaller ones. Owen likes to go swim when they are there, or with either of them when they aren't working!

Yippee for summer jobs!

Jim/Dad time

One HUGE advantage of Wade's time job hunting is the chance to spend time with the family :). He took Jim on a big week in Phoenix where he had 4 interviews and a lunch meeting. They took turns driving, saw Uncle Jimmy and Grandma Bergeson, experienced some REAL heat, took a walk in the desert, and ate some of the best Mexican food this side of the border.

One fine day Jim insisted on going to the city. The kids were still in school, so it was just the 2 of them, once again. Wade ended up on a long phone interview during their walk up the long stairs where the colorful little parrots live, they made it to the pier, and of course, to House of Nanking for lunch. There is a lot of fun to be had in San Francisco! How great to live here!

11-year old's Boy Scout Camp 2012

Just before school was out for the summer, Wade was able to go camping overnight with Owen and his scout troop. Owen is an avid learner, whatever the material, and he thoroughly enjoyed knot tying, earning his tote and chip (for pocket knife use :), archery and camping in a tent with Dad. The Bay Area is so beautiful, they didn't have to go far to be in a nice field surrounded by evergreen trees. And no rain! Good job being a good scout, O!

Jeff and Bethany came to town!

Jeff had a conference in San Fransisco.
Bethany came along.
We all got together at David and Chin's at the end of the week.
Seeing family is great.
We had a chance to catch up.
Nashville is far away and we probably won't get out there much.
Thanks for coming and including us in a rockin' good meal and visit!

p.s. Isn't Chin's yard so pretty?! Birds of Paradise, wow!

High School Northern California Sectionals 2012

The big final meet of the high school swim season. And it was just a few minutes from home at the Concord Pool! Lucky us!

...and we never get tired of watching this energetic, lean, and talented swimmer!

The big deal at this meet was the colorful, fast Arena Powerskin jammers worn by so many swimmers. Red, Blue, and bright Green! What a riot. Trevor did swim fast, but I suspect he had some adrenaline kicking in, too. It was a very fast, very exciting meet.

A personal best (I'll have to confirm that...) lane 8, 21.69. Yes he was fast!!!
And right up out of the water after the turn! Trevor loves short course swimming with all his fast starts and power turns. Go, Trevor!!! Now it's on to summer swim :)

Amy's 44th

I was tired, but it was nice. I had a long weekend without work to look forward to :). I got to have chicken salad sandwiches and a delicious watermelon. The family straightened things up a bit and made it nice for me with presents and everything. Thanks to Jim and Sharon and Mom and Dad for cards and $$ :)
